Paystack fees explained for Nigerian businesses
Paystack charges a percentage fee on every transaction you process. Understanding the fee structure helps you price correctly and decide whether to absorb the cost or pass it to your customer.
Local Nigerian transaction fees
For Nigerian cards and bank transfers: 1.5% of the amount, plus a ₦100 flat fee on transactions above ₦2,500. The total fee is never more than ₦2,000, regardless of how large the transaction is.
Should you absorb the fee or pass it on?
Most product-based businesses build the fee into their prices and absorb it. Service businesses and freelancers often add the fee explicitly. If you pass it on, be upfront with your customers. Use the toggle above to see both scenarios for any amount.
Why there is no ₦100 fee below ₦2,500
The 1.5% still applies to amounts below ₦2,500. What changes above that threshold is the addition of the ₦100 flat fee. So a ₦1,000 transaction costs ₦15, while a ₦5,000 transaction costs ₦175.
International transactions
Cards issued outside Nigeria are charged at 3.9% plus ₦100. If you sell to international customers frequently, factor this higher rate into your pricing.
